It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and for that I apologize, to leave you hanging after the last post was very inconsiderate. In my defense, my laptop was in the shop for 2 weeks, I have a desktop computer but find typing on the keyboard difficult. My Rheumatoid Arthritis is in full right now, the keyboard on the laptop is much easier for me.
So, on to the final segment of this series. I’ve compiled some resources on the web to help you as you attempt to photograph your own art and if you decide to hire someone to photograph your art.
To recap my last post:
- photos using a plain white background attract attention to the item
- describe the size of the object in text instead of using pennies or rulers in your picture
- arrange your items in a creative way and take multiple shots
- no need to use the zoom lens if you have the ability to crop the shot in a photo-editing software
- use the EV and white balance functions for better lighting options
- take your pictures outside in natural sunlight if at all possible
Here are some of the links that I’ve found to be of great help:
Larry Berman has tons of tips on the ZAPP jury application site, you’ll definitely want to bookmark this site.
Digital Photography School has instructions on how to make your own light tent complete with lights.
You won’t believe me when I tell you those two links are all you need, but they are. I can very easily get bogged down in finding tons of resources for tons of subjects with google, but I find that a complete wast of time, in fact I have a name for it “getting sucked into the vortex” don’t do it. Before you know it you will have missed breakfast and all the coffee with be gone with no memory of having drunk it.
Have fun and take lots of shots for your sites.
