We’re doing some experimenting with knots this year. Along with the Robots, knotting is one of those things we’ve wanted to try but haven’t gotten around to doing. Finally, Jonny and I have learned the square knot, which is actually very easy. Once you learn this knot, you can adapt it to many creative designs. Jonny made this bracelet for her first project, it took several days for her to master the technique, but I think she did an amazing job. I love this bracelet, not only for the knotting but because it features some of my favorite Tibetan Agate beads:

If it weren’t too big for me, this bracelet would be mine. I would like to find the time to make one for myself, but as with everything else I want to make for myself, it will just have to wait.
The necklaces she’s making utilize the square knot knotting technique at the top to incorporate the threads, very nice. We may use a bead cone or fancy bead cap to finish them off. Again, some of my favorite beads are in these necklaces.

It’s funny, Jonny used to really enjoy working in bright colors, swarovski crystals and other very bold beads. I was the one fixated on earthy colors and earthy styles of jewelry. Seems we’ve each traded places for a bit. I so look forward to the day she can join me full time in the studio, we have so much fun together and as you can see, she’s quite talented too.
